Well its Day 3
Victoria BC Day 2
Our day two video
Victoria BC Day 1
Day one, ok actually day two, but the drive from Missoula to Tacoma was extremely stormy, so I neglected to shoot any video.
Day one (two) starts out crossing the Bridge at Squamish Harbor on State Route 104, boarding the ferry at Port Angeles, the crossing, and then arriving in Victoria. In the rush to get off the ferry, clear customs and then find our way to the house, I didn’t get any more footage for the day…Tomorrow I hope to, I’m still rather new at the video thing, and have a hard time coming up with useful content, a learning curve I know I will be able to surmount in time.
We wanted to drive the full way to Port Angeles the first day, actually a very doable trip, but being it was Memorial Day weekend, we couldn’t find a hotel within 100 miles of the port, and ended up in Tacoma for the night. Early to bed and a 4am wake up for the 2.5 hour drive from Tacoma to Port Angeles. We made it with plenty of time to spare and took a bit of a walk around the town before boarding for Victoria.
So much for fun in the snow
Well the last week at home was sucky yet productive, honestly I need to be better at the whole journaling thing, as so many things happened while I was home it’s going to be bonkers to update everything
Here’s the cliffnotes version
Film developing failures figured out
Film fixer was bad, all the ruined film was because I was too lazy to make a new batch. New fixer equals decent negatives! Next step it to go back to HC110 and make sure it’s gonna work for me then I can abandon D76 all together. It’s such a pain in the ass!! New fixer too. I want to give fotographers formulary TF-4 a shot!
Cars:
the Subaru is in for surgery getting the heads done with new hopefully non leaking gaskets!! Next I need to find spare winter wheels so swaps are easy.
Tundra starter died Thursday morning as we were going to go on a trip to seeley lake! I guess it’s better than dying while we are in Canada!! It was a little frustrating being stranded but it’s fixed now. A mere $1400 for a fucking stater, you have to remove the exhaust manifolds!! what the fuck
SCANNING! Yeah I figured out how to get great looking scans finally! 135 film only at the moment but I got it. Evidently my scanner needs all of the feet removed from the film holders to get sharp scans. Next test will be with a 120 holder then the 4x5. I still want to order better scanning holders. But at $100 a shot that can wait. I’m really considering a Jobo!
Lighter side of things, we took a trip up to seeley lake yesterday and had a good time. Did some exploring and I found a few places I really want to go back to with either the 4x5 or Hasselblad. Oh and I made some killer ribs for a change!!!! I e probably already lost the recipe
